The Magic Of Music
Creating Musical Opportunities for Kids
The Magic Of Music Program was initiated in 2007 by Jillian Marie Jensen of Rochester, Massachusetts. As Miss Massachsutts Teen America, Jillian started the program as part of a community service project. Her main objective was to give kids the opportunity to be a part of musical opportunities. Jillians' love for music started at the age of three when she started singing. Music made a huge impact on her life and she realized that she wanted to help kids have the musical opportunities that she had. Jillian has been blessed to be able to take different types of music lessons and she wanted help those who loved music like herself, but may not have the financial means to afford lessons. So, she started the Magic Of Music program to raise money to give away scholarships to those kids who wished to pursue their musical dreams. M.O.M. Scholarships were granted to kids for music lessons, musical instruments as well as other special musical needs or programs in the arts.
Jillian raised more than $8,000 and granted atleast 10 scholarships to local kids who pursued lessons in voice, acting and dance. She also purchased musical instruments for the local BOYS AND GIRLS club where she volunteered weekly providing music lessons for several years.
Prior to starting this program, Jillian met with many local music stores, music teachers and spoke with them about my project. They were very impressed and many of them have helped support the project as they have provided better prices for music lessons or matched my scholarship for kids to be able to take atleast one full year of music lessons. It is with this support that my program has really taken off and has been a great success.
